Technical Engagement Lead

💰 $10,640 - $17,024 (Est.) 📍 Auckland

Job Description

We are a highly regarded, New Zealand-owned technology consulting company helping leading organisations across Aotearoa to deliver smart, pragmatic, innovative, and impactful digital solutions.

About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

You will be the Technical Engagement Lead for one of our most significant customer accounts — the person who keeps multiple concurrent streams of work moving forward, coherently and without friction.

This role sits alongside the architects and technical leads assigned to the account, not above them. Where they own the design and delivery of their workstreams, you provide the connective tissue across all of them: technical oversight, dependency management, release coordination, and the kind of operational rigour that turns a collection of parallel projects into a coherent programme.

As someone who is no stranger to customer interactions, and someone with a strong technical background in bespoke software design and development, you’ll be a thought leader for how our solutions and teams can improve. You will be a trusted advisor to the customer – you will understand their strategic priorities, maintain their confidence in the programme, and give them the visibility they need to make good decisions. You will also build strong relationships with the customer's key stakeholders to gain an ongoing understanding of their strategy, what is important to them, and how they work

In any given week, you’ll wear many hats. Relationship builder, architect, problem solver, technical guru, trusted advisor, and strategist. These are just some of the key qualities that come together for what we call a Technical Engagement Lead. Although the role does not have line management responsibilities, team interactions will be a regular activity.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical oversight across multiple concurrent delivery streams on a single customer account — maintaining visibility of progress, risks, dependencies, and quality across all workstreams.
Act as the coordination layer between architects, technical leads, and the service management/support team — ensuring decisions flow, blockers surface early, and work is unblocked quickly.
Own and continuously improve the release management process for the account: identify cross-stream dependencies, flag conflicts, sequence releases, and coordinate go/no-go decisions with technical and business stakeholders.
Skills and experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

To succeed in this role, you will have:

A strong technical background in software delivery — previously a Technical Lead, Lead Developer, or Software Architect in a bespoke software development environment – specifically in Azure - with enough depth to earn the respect of engineering teams
Solid hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and Azure-hosted web application environments.
Strong interpersonal skills, with significant customer-facing experience.
Able to build trust with engineers, architects, and customer executives alike, and maintain relationships under pressure
An exceptional ability to communicate and foster positive business relationships
A demonstrable track record of improving delivery speed and operational resilience — not just reporting on metrics, but actively changing how teams work
Ideally, previous experience in customer success roles
Be Auckland-based
