Full job description
About Us
Bridgit is a leading non-bank lender transforming the way Australians access property finance. Purpose-built to make property transactions faster and easier, we pioneered the Buy Now, Sell Later solution – empowering homeowners to unlock their property equity and move on their terms. With a simple digital application, fast approvals, and flexible loan options, we’re making property finance seamless and stress-free.

We’re now five years old and making huge strides. We have accredited over three quarters of Australia’s broker network, and launched white label solutions with Australia’s largest aggregators – Connective, Aussie Home Loans, Finsure, and Loan Market Group – and we’re just getting started.

Our momentum has been recognised with awards such as Best Growth Story at the 2025 Fintech Awards, 2025 Finder People’s Choice Award for Lending Innovation, the finalist for Excellence in Lending (Business & Consumer) at the 2025 Finnies, Deloitte's tech fast 50 2025 and finally; being recognised as one of LinkedIn’s top 20 Start Up’s in Australia 2025.

The difference you’ll make

You’ll be instrumental in architecting and building the core banking infrastructure of our lending platform as we continue to grow our industry-leading bridging finance products. Leading our newly formed Banking Squad, you will focus on critical financial primitives like user wallets, transactional accounts, withdrawals, and offset accounts. Working closely with product and engineering, you’ll translate complex financial requirements into secure, highly available, and scalable systems that our customers and business can trust.
Beyond delivery, you’ll help raise the bar for system architecture across the business; challenging conventions, prioritising security and data integrity, and influencing how we think about robust financial engineering. Your work will directly impact how seamlessly customers manage their funds during their home-owning journey, setting the standard for how modern lending platforms operate under the hood.
What you'll do;
Lead the technical design, architecture, and development of secure, scalable banking services (wallets, offset accounts, ledgers, and payment flows).
Collaborate with the product & tech teams to implement robust transactional workflows and integrate with external banking or payment providers.
Write exceptionally well-tested, fault-tolerant code and proactively identify areas for technical improvement, security enhancements, or infrastructure refactoring.
Set direction instead of waiting for it, bringing ideas backed by rigorous technical and architectural reasoning.
Guide system design and code reviews, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and compliance with financial standards.
Mentor and elevate other engineers, championing backend best practices and a culture of uncompromising quality and security.
What you’ll bring:
5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development, with a mastery of relational databases, API design, and concurrency control.
2+ years building mission-critical systems such as ledgers, payment gateways, or banking platforms, with a deep understanding of double-entry accounting and reconciliation.
Proven track record of designing and evolving complex, real-world architectures with a focus on fault tolerance and high consistency.
Demonstrated experience navigating compliance and auditability standards (e.g., APRA, PCI-DSS, or SOC 2) to ensure robust data governance.
Ideally 2+ years leading cross-functional squads, mentoring engineers, and owning end-to-end delivery in ambitious environments.
Strong focus on observability, idempotent transaction handling, and performing safe production data migrations without compromising integrity.
Ability to deconstruct complex system problems into fundamentals and clearly communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
A positive, detail-oriented collaborator who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and lifting the technical bar across the team.
Our Culture and Benefits
