In this role, you will:
• The Technology Programme Management job is accountable for delivery of Technology Programmes, Business Change Programme, or delivery of a critical Technology-only programmes within a Technology Portfolio. This Job manages change initiation, design and delivery and accountable for successful delivery of the programme and ensuring benefits realisation.
• This job may be based in one or more Technology disciplines such as mobile, digital, security, core banking, micro services, operations readiness, service introduction, capacity management or architecture. The remit area may be global and may cross multiple HSBC business areas.
• Manage programme strategy and the programme approach across a series of projects or component activities, building stakeholder buy-in around plans, commitments and changes. Assist business stakeholders with the decomposition of complex business requirements into Epics and User Stories that can be delivered by Technology teams via respective backlogs with minimum cross product co-ordination.
• Delivery, governance & reporting to stakeholders including the Product owner in the business, leadership of a service line or Product within Technology. Manage the reporting of progress, issues, dependencies and risks to committees and make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation.
• Drives the use of the prevailing methodologies within Technology teams (e.g. Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean). Ensure Technology programmes align to HSBC strategies and contribute to towards achieving strategic aims. Ensuring that all Technology practices and associated tools are being adopted and adhered to within the Programme.
• Manage programme budgets, including headcount and software delivery capitalisation. Manage negotiation with and management of, and service agreement monitoring of third party contracts with Technology suppliers.
• Manage the development and promotion of the technology portfolio and project management practices. Work across business and technology to establish effective controls, procedures and quality assurance processes for the product in line with the Business Transformation Framework and HSBC Risk and Controls framework
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, business management or computer science.
• Experience of 15+years in Project/Program management,with over all experience of zbc to zbc years.
• Technical skills - Technical project managers can use their technical skills and experience to oversee the development of products for a company. This might involve a high-level knowledge of an organization's technology capabilities and technical details like coding. Though your organization may not require you to perform hands-on coding, this knowledge can help you support your teams and help you accurately plan for new programs.
• Project management - Though program management often contains many smaller projects, you can apply many of the same skills to a TPM role. Depending on the organization, you may use project management frameworks like agile project management, or the process of releasing features in shorter iterations to adapt to business needs or changes. Project managers often use a subset of other skills, including schedule management, communication, problem-solving and strategic thinking.
• Risk management - Program managers often prepare and respond to potential risks while overseeing their projects. This might involve assessing if a certain risk is worth taking to proceed with product development. For technical programs, this can include the likelihood that a product bug or feature may impact sales or if increasing the resources to work on a program might cause a breach of budget.
• Leadership - As program managers oversee the requirements design, development and deployment of new technology, they often act as leaders to employees across teams. Having strong leadership skills includes the ability to motivate people and think of innovative ways to solve problems. You might create program road maps that detail tasks and milestones for people to complete while developing a product, so it can help to ensure each person knows their role and the goals so that everyone shares the same desire for product success.
• Business knowledge - Though a highly technical job, TPMs also use basic business knowledge in their roles. This means understanding how organizations structure their business and technology departments and basic financial concepts, like budgeting and profit. By learning these different areas of business, TMPs can work with leadership to determine product strategies and timelines that can help grow business.
