Within Infrastructure Canberra, Delivery – Places and Spaces is responsible for whole-of-life asset management, property maintenance, and the delivery of property-related programs and upgrades across the ACT Government portfolio. This includes management of government-owned and managed buildings, delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, and ensuring properties are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
The Technical Security Officer sits within the Intake and Security business unit, part of the Property Services Operations Branch. Intake and Security provide specialist property management, maintenance and upgrade services, including building security systems, access control and surveillance, across a diverse portfolio of ACT Government facilities.
The Technical Security Officer plays a key hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing building security across government properties. The position is responsible for planning, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic access control systems, CCTV and other security infrastructure, administering proximity access systems, and providing technical advice on security-related matters. The role also contributes to security audits, surveys and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety and compliance within government buildings.
The position works closely with supervisors, internal stakeholders, contractors and clients to plan and deliver high-quality security maintenance and upgrade works, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Australian Standards and ACT Government requirements. This is a field-based role with time spent both on site and in the iCBR office.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
This position requires:
Professional/Trade qualifications in the named trade speciality (Qualifications in technical security) and building maintenance experience in a relevant function.
Hold or have the capacity to obtain hold open cabling licence cabling Licence.
Hold or have the capacity to obtain Certification and/or licensing in security related systems.
Hold or have the capacity to obtain factory certification for Inner Range Integriti basic technician, Integriti Advanced technician and Avigilon systems are desirable.
Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain; General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organization is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
Hold or have the capacity to obtain Silica Awareness Card
Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to -Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
Hold or have the capacity to obtain any relevant Certificates such as TMV, working at heights, confined space, forklift.
a current driver’s licence (car)
Hold or have the capacity to obtain NV1 clearance is highly desirable.
