The Marketing Cloud Solution/Technical Architect is a key member on the Customer Engagement team within the Communications Experience (CE) Organization. They serve as a strategic advisor between internal Stakeholders and the Customer Engagement team, and are an experienced technical subject matter expert within the specific domains of Salesforce Marketing Cloud applications and tools. They are responsible for leading the discovery process with internal Stakeholders & the CE team to determine business needs and technical requirements, as well as the overall design and implementation of solutions and technologies to meet these needs. The Marketing Cloud Solution/Technical Architect is an experienced customer consultant with strong interpersonal skills, and broad business, technical, and interactive marketing industry knowledge.
The ideal candidate will have a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Services, or related Partner/Consultancy background. They should be known to work collaboratively, thrive in an entrepreneurial atmosphere, communicate tactfully, work with business operations, and effectively design, test, and deploy software solutions. They have strong development experience and enjoy developing technical solutions. Must be an excellent communicator who can tailor their delivery to a variety of audiences.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Setup and maintenance of data integrations between Marketing Cloud and internal stakeholder systems (Oracle, etc.)
Lead inter-team meetings to scope technical and business requirements related to stakeholder’s transactional send initiatives, data, and needs.
Full solution ownership, from requirements gathering to solution delivery, working with variety of technical and non technical collaborators.
Create, manage, and present an actionable business requirements document/blueprint that aligns a stakeholder’s business needs to Salesforce Marketing Cloud & associated products.
Conduct solutions testing and validation.
Manage expectations; negotiate solutions to complex problems with the stakeholder and CE team.
Identify and proactively manage project/program risk areas and present alternatives to alleviate or resolve.
Review and correct project/program direction, approach, and key artifacts to keep projects/programs on track and solutions extendable and maintainable going forward.
Present high-level overviews of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud architecture and integration capabilities.
Create and maintain clear and articulate solution documentation (incl. artifacts like code samples, screenshots, etc.)
Contribute to a large-scale vision while advising and articulating program/project strategies.
Apply programming knowledge to data management, scripting languages, API and integrations tasks
Handle multiple stakeholder engagements and work with associated team members.
Implement complex development and configuration activities
Provide technical consultation to CE team members
Required Skills/Experience:
Excellent strategic & technical thinking. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills; able to present complex concepts effectively at both the tactical and strategic/executive levels.
Highly efficient team player, with the ability to also work independently in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
Comfortable working in and with a highly distributed team and organization.
Expert knowledge in Marketing Cloud advanced implementations, with 2+ years direct experience in the platform.
Proven experience of solution design & technical delivery of Marketing Cloud or any equivalent marketing automation platform (SAAS, Adobe, etc.)
Experience leading customer-facing discovery sessions to conceptualize and design sophisticated business solutions.
Familiarity with data architecture/schema, including relational data models and SQL syntax, documentation of data models, and data flows.
Experience working with multi-stakeholder teams, specifically IT, M&A, Infrastructure/Security, Sales/Business Operations.
Experience detailing customer problems and software solutions using BRDs/FSDs, wireframes, diagrams, workflows and mockups.
Familiarity with Network Protocols and Services (DNS, HTTP, HTTPS), APIs (SMC, CRM, SOAP/REST), object-oriented programming and design with .NET, Java, and/or PHP is preferred
Experience developing SQL with a RDBMS such as MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server
Strong understanding of SOAP APIs, REST APIs and integration architectures.
AMPscript proficiency
Familiarity with HTML, XML, CSS and JavaScript
Familiarity with SDLC methodologies including requirements, design, implementation, testing and maintenance
Highly proficient in Google Docs, MS Office Suite, Quip collaboration
Work collaboratively and have very strong communications skills.

Preferred Requirements:
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Admin Certified
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Consultant Certified
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer Certified
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist Certified
Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
