As a Technical Expert, you need to be passionate about storytelling through your visual art. Your key challenge is how to enhance the vision of the writer than eroding it.
How do you present the deepest mysteries in a sensitive, simple and engaging manner that creates a lasting impression on the viewers?
Responsibility
Tech artists tend to be generalists while also having a strong focus in at least one area such as:
• Shading
• Lighting
• Procedural creation
• Scripts/Pipeline work
• Optimization
• Visual Effects (FX)
Requirements
• Strong Autodesk Maya, or similar, skills to translate assets into Unreal Engine
• Utilize and interpret Unreal Engine blueprints and sequencer tools
• Implement object/camera animations, stage elements and events in multiple environments
• Solid understanding of lighting, particle systems, post-processes, material setup and general workflows inside Unreal Engine
• Ability to model, unwrap/texture and animate in Autodesk Maya or similar
• Desire to work independently and meet strict deadlines
• Seamlessly translate 2D designs to high fidelity 3D content for development implementation
• Employ a systematic approach to solving large, complex design challenges
• Problem solve and determine out-of-the-box solutions for complex technical requirements
