Rockstar India is on the lookout for a talented Technical Writer who possesses a passion for the small details. This is a full-time permanent position based out of Rockstar’s state of the art development studio in Bangalore, India.
Join the Technical Writing team to create world-class documentation fit for a global audience made up of the best talent in video game production.
WHAT WE DO
• We write technical documentation, processes, and instructions. We are not creative writers, we are not script writers, we do not write the game narrative. We are here to help our fellow Rockstars do their job.
• We help bring clarity to the processes and systems that all Rockstars depend on. We convert the expertise of all teams into text, graphics, and video content which is easily understood by a global audience.
• We collaborate with Artists, Programmers, Animators, and Producers to help them build the documentation they rely on.
• We work with IT, Art, Tools, and other development teams to create innovative ways to share and automate documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create a wide range of high-quality documentation using clear and concise language.
• Responsible for writing, proof-reading, and updating internal documents with a user-friendly layout. Must also peer review documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with internal development teams located across the globe to obtain and document precise information on tools, APIs, processes, and user workflows.
• Direct access to internal tools and technology to verify the validity of technical documentations.
• Update and proof-read internal Wiki to match existing standards established by the Technical Writing Team.
• Support the Technical Documentation team globally by applying tags, updating images, making minor edits, and reviewing existing documentation.
• Become the local expert for Technical Documentation support. Helping others in the studio with their Documentation needs and acting as an advocate to consult on future documentation tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree level qualification in communications or technical writing.
• Experience of creating written documentation, tutorials, and other training material.
SKILLS
• Fluent English speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• An ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and systems and communicate them in a clear manner for the end user.
• Motivated self-starter, who independently takes projects through to completion and can find new tasks.
• Experience working with Wiki-based media is a must.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Confluence.
• Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements and priorities.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
• Knowledge of Confluence backend.
• High proficiency with word processing programs and workflow diagram applications.
• Knowledge of content creation tools such as 3dsMax and Maya.
• Game development experience and/or a passion for games.
• Experience with Photoshop or other image or video editing software.
