What You’ll Be Doing:
Technical Writer
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop a thorough understanding of the audience and the technical documentation required by meeting with colleagues, and working with managers
• Research and build knowledge about products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented
• Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension and write and edit technical information accordingly
• Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit operational procedures, user’s guide, online helps, and other documents to support end-users
• Create, maintain, and update installation instructions, training material, and other technical documents
• Review, revise, modify, or edit documents prepared by others
• Study product samples and talk with SMEs/product managers/designers, and developers to ensure that specialized topics are appropriately addressed
• Work with technical staff to make products and instructions easier to use
• Incorporate animation, graphs, illustrations, or photographs to increase users’ understanding of the material
• Responsible for managing the consistency of technical content and its use across departments including product development, marketing, and customer relations
• Design and establish style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations to meet business needs
• Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
• Evaluate and recommend revisions to standards and guidelines
• Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
• Create, compile, and deliver software developmental documentation packages
• Provide writing, editing, and design support to other team members
• Coordinate project plans, budget, and determine resources
• Create, adapt, and follow project schedules and deadlines
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in English, Applied Linguistic, Journalism, Mass Communication
• IT/Software product documentation experience
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and track multiple tasks to successful completion
• Must be a team player that is assertive, passionate, and goal-oriented
• Passionate about writing simply and rationally
• Proven track record in establishing strong relationships with stakeholders
• Excellent English grammar, written, and verbal communication
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Microsoft Office experience (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Madcap Flare/Adobe RoboHelp
• SnagIt or any other image capture and editing tool
Mandatory Requirements:
We require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. These at-home technical requirements are subject to change with any scheduled re-opening of our office locations.
