About the role
We are looking for a Technician Equipment Reliability – Electrical to identify opportunities to extend equipment component life and prevent early life failure.
This is a great opportunity for a passionate and self‑motivated electrical specialist with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, supporting our Reduction Maintenance team in a flexible, fast‑paced and improvement‑focused environment.
Reporting to the Superintendent Reduction Maintenance and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:
Providing support and structure to defect elimination efforts, working closely with planned and reactive maintenance leadership teams
Analysing scheduled maintenance data to identify opportunities to extend component life and prevent early life failure
Facilitating Root Cause Problem Solving for repeat instances of abnormal component deterioration
Supporting PMO delivery to ensure optimal labour, materials and business impact
Maintaining and updating maintenance documentation including CBPs, SPLs, drawings, BOMs and Critical Maintenance Tasks
Sharing defect elimination practices across Rio Tinto operations, including other smelters
Supporting long‑term ACRA and capital planning, including procurement, tenders and contractor delivery
About you
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Electrical Trade qualification or relevant Engineering qualification
Experience with PLC programming and Variable Speed Drives
Exceptional problem‑solving skills with demonstrated continuous improvement experience
Experience using SAP in a maintenance environment
Experience in contractor management, including HSE, scope and commercial delivery
