We are currently seeking a Technician Geology to join our Geological Services team at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. This role reports to the Supervisor – Geology Services and is based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, operating on an 8-days-on/6-days-off FIFO roster. We offer direct flights to our sites from Perth and/or Kalgoorlie. While direct experience is not essential, experience in the field or pit would be advantageous.
This role involves physically demanding manual tasks and regular exposure to outdoor environments. We are seeking candidates who are comfortable working in varying conditions and able to meet the physical demands of a hands-on operational position.
About the role
Diamond Core Processing:
Core orientation (ORI – measuring and marking), high-definition core photography, core cutting workflows (circular saw operation, blade checks, coolant maintenance), sampling workflows, and sample numbering verification.
RC Sampling & QAQC Duties:
RC sample pickups, chip tray preparation and management, QAQC processes, CRM/blank preparation, Raytrac scanning, and verification of sampling completeness.
Core Farm & Pulp Management:
Organisation and archiving of pulps, coarse residues and diamond core; maintaining storage systems; updating catalogue records; preparing materials for laboratory dispatch.
Geological Sample Processing:
Processing geological rock samples (diamond core, RC chips, and selected rock samples) through all required stages so geologists can collate data.
Preparing samples for dispatch to SGS/LabWest/Tropicana, ensuring lab sheets are complete and QAQC meets compliance requirements.
Open Pit Support:
Ore mark-ups, installation and retrieval of Blast Monitor Balls (BMM), assisting with field tasks, and supporting mining geology requirements when directed.
Exploration Support:
Avenza-based pad/track navigation, pad mark-outs, sump identification, field navigation support for RC/Diamond rigs.
Systems & Data Entry:
Use of Datashed/DS5, iSIMS, and Raytrac for data validation, logging imports, assay data checking, and tracking the full manual import process.
End-of-shift data entry, procedure updates, and contributing to documentation improvements.
Equipment & Vehicle Operation:
Safe operation of LVs, forklifts, core saws, water bowsers, and other plant as per AGAA procedures and mine regulations.
Safety, Training & Meetings:
Attending and contributing to PSI meetings, safety training, emergency musters, hazard reporting, undertaking SLAMs & CCVs, and following all statutory Safety & Duty of Care requirements.

Experience in the field or pit would be advantageous but is not essential.
