The Role.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Technician – Road Service to join our team at our Devonport branch and deliver high-quality on-site service and repair support across a range of forklift and lifting equipment. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while travelling to customer sites. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment is maintained, repaired, and operating safely and efficiently across a variety of environments.

Key Responsibilities.
In this role you will be responsible for the following.
Service, repair, and maintain customer forklifts and lifting equipment (up to 7.0T for light equipment and 10.0T+ for heavy equipment) at various on-site locations including trusted, reliable brands like Caterpillar Lift Trucks, Konecranes, and Haulotte.
Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, and diagnostic testing to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
Perform equipment overhauls, modifications, and assist with new machine assembly as required.
Troubleshoot mechanical faults and complete repairs in line with industry standards and best practices.
Respond to breakdowns and provide timely mobile service support to minimise equipment downtime.
Work across a variety of customer sites, adapting to different environments and operational requirements.
Maintain accurate service records and complete all required documentation for each job.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with company procedures and customer expectations.
Qualifications and Experience.
The successful candidate will ideally have the following qualifications and experience.
Trade qualification as an Automotive, Mobile Plant Mechanic, or Heavy Diesel Mechanic is essential.
Strong experience working with heavy diesel or large-scale mobile equipment.
Solid mechanical aptitude with strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills with a professional approach.
Electrical and hydraulic experience is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
Willingness to travel to customer sites as part of daily work requirements.
