As a Middle and Large Commercial Underwriter specializing in the technology sector, you will lead the sales and underwriting journey by cultivating strong, long-lasting relationships with agents and brokers, ensuring our company is their preferred carrier. Your success in this role will involve effective account management through strategic planning to operational excellence, while also identifying opportunities for cross-sell and up-sell across the team. We foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment, where approachable industry leaders mentor their teams to achieve market success while enjoying the journey.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and underwrite a Middle Market Technology portfolio.
• Analyze agency performance quarterly to identify actionable insights.
• Apply comprehensive Underwriting guidelines to inform decision-making.
• Underwrite complex business scenarios with minimal support and infrequent referrals.
• Maintain extensive knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and governance.
• Oversee agency relationships, developing and implementing strategies for new and renewal accounts.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and solution provider to Brokers and Agents.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in P&C Middle Market or Technology Carrier production underwriting; E&O underwriting experience is a plus.
• Proven success in cultivating and sustaining solid relationships with internal and external partners.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation capabilities.
• Aptitude for analytical thinking regarding business challenges, with a focus on generating solutions.
• High-energy self-starter demonstrating resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.
• Effective time management, organization, and desk management skills.
• Goal-oriented with a strong track record of delivering results.
• Willingness to challenge the status quo and strive for competitive success.
• Expert technical knowledge along with sound decision-making and analytical proficiency.
Location:
This role features a hybrid work model, requiring presence in the Houston, TX office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation:
The annualized base pay range for this position, based on an analysis of similar roles in the market, is between $96,400 - $184,000. Actual pay may vary based on performance, expertise, and demonstrated competencies. The compensation package also includes additional rewards, such as performance-based bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition for exceptional contributions.
