Job Description
You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Saturday. Additional hours, including occasional evening work, may be required based on project demands. We offer competitive hourly pay rate from $30.00 to $35.00 depending on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Telecommunication Technician, your duties will include:
Installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment and fibre optic network systems in accordance with industry standards
Studying network plans, technical drawings, and specifications to determine installation requirements
Installing fibre optic cabling from network distribution points to customer premises, including underground and aerial installations
Jointing, splicing, and terminating fibre optic cables in joint enclosures, cabinets, and exchanges
Installing and commissioning fibre access terminals (FATs), optical network terminals (ONTs), and related equipment
Conducting testing, fault finding, and diagnostic procedures on telecommunications networks using appropriate test equipment
Repairing and replacing faulty network components, including cables, modems, routers, switches, and associated hardware
Installing, configuring, and programming telecommunications and network devices, including routers, modems, RGWs, and IP-based devices
Designing and installing structured cabling systems (e.g., CAT6) for residential and small business customers
Performing aerial work and working at heights where required, including installation of aerial fibre boxes
Blowing fibre optic cables where necessary
Ensuring all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations and company quality standards
Liaising with customers to install, test, and troubleshoot telecommunications services at their premises
Job Requirements:
At least 1 year of relevant industry experience OR a Level 3 or higher qualification in Telecommunications or a related field such as Computing, Networking, IT, Electronics etc.
Relevant certifications such as WTC1, WTC3, TMO-P, or PTN are advantageous
Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments
Class 1 driver licence (or international equivalent)
