About Cortes School

Cortes School is a small rural school located on Cortes Island (About Cortes Island), nestled amongst the spectacular Discovery Islands, at the entrance to Desolation Sound “amidst breathtaking fjords that penetrate the wild west coast of mainland British Columbia”. The island is accessible by ferry, water taxi, or float plane. The school serves the families living on the Island and offers education to students from Kindergarten to Grade +. Residents of the area enjoy the many recreational activities available on their doorstep; these include sailing, hiking, biking, camping, and fishing (fin fish, shellfish, and crustaceans). Cortes Island is also home to a thriving agricultural and artisanal community. Please note, it is not possible to commute between Campbell River and Cortes Island on a daily basis.
