The Grade 1 Orthotic Technician is responsible for providing technical support to orthotists and the manufacture of a comprehensive range of orthotic and related devices for patients referred to the Orthotic Department in our dedicated industrial workshop. This includes fabrication, adjustment, modification, maintenance and repair of orthoses as requested by the orthotist, workshop supervisor or manager. The technician may be asked to attend outpatient clinics, clinical rooms or hospital wards to assist the attending orthotist. This includes assisting the orthotist during casting or measure taking procedures. The Grade 1 Orthotic Technician may have in-depth knowledge or specialise in one or more areas of technical production and design and may be called upon to provide advice of a technical nature in regard to a particular orthosis, design or method of manufacture.

The Orthotics department consists of an experienced and dynamic team of 16 staff, with an on-site manufacturing facility incorporating advanced CADCAM technology alongside a traditional plaster room.

What You'll Be Doing

Diploma / Certificate Orthotic & Prosthetic Technology, highly regarded however, not essential. Person's with Trades background encouraged to apply eg: fitting and machining, carpentry
Good Communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Willingness to undergo further training and development.
Prior work experience as an orthotic/prosthetic technical assistant or orthotic technician, highly regarded however not essential as training will be provided. Please list any relevant hand skills or trades background
Ability to make a range of Orthotic devices to a high standard, highly regarded however not essential as training will be provided.
6. Flexibility within the work environment with the ability to prioritise tasks as requested/ required.
Ability to work to deadlines within a busy working environment.
