About the Role
As the TAP Intake and Assessment Officer, you will be the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking tenancy and housing support. You’ll manage referrals, conduct initial assessments, and ensure people are connected to the right services quickly and effectively.

This role also delivers low-intensity support, community education and public information sessions to strengthen awareness of tenancy rights, housing options and homelessness prevention. You’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth entry into services while promoting early intervention across the community.

Part Time - Monday to Friday, approximately 25 hours per week.
Shifts will fall between 9:00am and 5:00pm, with a mix of morning and afternoon work across the week.
We can offer flexibility for the right candidate.

In this role, you will:

Manage program referrals, enquiries and initial needs assessments

Provide brief intervention, information and appropriate referrals

Deliver community education sessions on housing options, tenancy rights and homelessness prevention

Provide low-intensity support and general advice without ongoing case management

Develop and share educational resources, fact sheets and community materials

Maintain accurate client records, referral tracking and reporting data

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless client handovers

Build strong relationships with housing providers, government and community agencies

Participate in outreach activities and interagency forums

Contribute to continuous improvement, compliance and quality service delivery

Apply child-safe principles, privacy requirements and WHS policies at all times

Job Description
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential

Qualifications in Social Work, Community Services or a related field

Experience working with vulnerable individuals in a community or outreach setting

Strong knowledge of housing pathways, tenancy rights, mortgagee supports and homelessness services

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities

Ability to work independently with limited supervision

ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration

Desirable

Experience providing tenancy or housing support services

Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and relevant housing legislation

Understanding of the local community support landscape

Experience working within a trauma-informed framework

Experience using client management or case management systems
