SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The Test Bay Team Leader is responsible for leading, motivating, and developing a team of test technicians and test engineers. This role ensures that the team has the necessary skills, tools, documentation, and training to perform testing activities safely, efficiently, and according to Gutor standards.
The Test Bay Team Leader is the first escalation point for technical issues that cannot be resolved autonomously by the team. The leader also drives continuous improvement initiatives, ensures proper maintenance of all assigned equipment, and guarantees that all processes, safety instructions, and documentation are accurate and up to date.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, motivate, and continuously develop the Test Bay team.
• Monitor team engagement and performance; implement improvement actions as needed.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, quality, and work procedures.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and problem‑solving using Kaizen, Lean, and breakthrough improvement methods.
• Regularly assess and enhance team skills to maintain high performance.
• Review the quality of work performed by the team to ensure compliance with Gutor standards.
• Lead daily accountability meetings and participate in cross-functional quality circles.
• Provide structured and timely feedback to product development and design teams to simplify processes and improve testing efficiency.
• Report regularly to the Plant/Operations Manager on performance, issues, and progress.
Testing & Technical Responsibilities
• Support project handover meetings with Project Managers/Engineers regarding special test requirements.
• Lead actions when test engineers are unable to solve technical issues; coordinate with other departments and/or external parties to resolve them.
• Maintain an overview of all test options available across various test stations.
• Support other departments in defining:
• New testing standards and procedures
• Requirements for special tests and related equipment
• Estimated time needed for special testing activities
• Evaluate, implement, and document new testing equipment and testing processes.
• Work closely with the Industrialization team to implement or improve test processes.
• Coordinate and supervise complex or high-demand special tests.
• Document special tests comprehensively, including costs, equipment used, contacts, results, time spent, and lessons learned.
• Approve final test results and authorize release of tested products.
Process, Documentation & Equipment Management
• Create and maintain all work instructions, safety instructions, and process documentation related to the Test Bay.
• Ensure proper and timely maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of tools and equipment assigned to the team.
• Organize preventive maintenance and repair work on Test Bay infrastructure.
• Define and implement countermeasures to reduce time delays caused within the Test Bay team.
• Support internal Gutor projects focused on improving testing efficiency, reliability, and infrastructure readiness.
• Identify and propose improvements to testing infrastructure to meet evolving requirements.
• Support the Test Bay Planner in scheduling and organizing special tests.
• Ensure autonomous maintenance practices are followed for assigned tools and equipment.
SECONDARY DUTIES
• Assist in enforcing safety rules and ensuring a safe working environment in the Test Bay.
• Ensure adherence to all Test Bay Technician/Engineer guidelines; intervene when team members do not follow instructions.
• Collaborate with Engineering and R&D on clarifying and solving technical issues.
• Support system and component qualification testing.
• Assist in developing advanced testing procedures and test adapters.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in measurement, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Test Bay Engineer at Gutor or in a similar role externally, with knowledge of UPS and or Charging systems.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety hazards and risk management.
• Understanding of power electronics, transformers, chokes, capacitors, and electrical control systems.
• Familiarity with 8D problem‑solving and Six Sigma concepts.
• Ability to coordinate and resolve technical issues during daily operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a technical team.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Gutor in the US.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Fluency in Spanish or any other language
• Certified First Aid Training

• The base salary range for this position is $72,000 - 90,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
