At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt and Wairarapa. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.

Toru Fetu kindergarten is a purpose-built Pacific Kindergarten situated on the grounds of Maraeroa School in Cannons Creek, Porirua.
The focus of this Kindergarten since conception has always been to provide quality Early Childhood Education in the Cook Island, Tuvaluan, and Niuean cultures. For this reason, the children and families who access our service do so because their aspirations for their child/ren is to be immersed in a quality ECE service that nurtures Pacific languages and culture.
We are licenced for 80 children who attend between 6 and * hours a day. You will join our team of 23 staff.
This is a part-time role of 25 hour per week worked Monday to Friday
Part-time Teacher, 25 hours per week. This includes non-contact time which is part of your day to day work at the kindergarten.
The hours are:
Monday 11am – 1.30pm (2.5 hrs)
Tuesday 11am – 3pm (4 hrs)
Wednesday 7.15 am – 3.45pm inc ½ hr unpaid break (8 hrs)
Thursday 8am – 4.30 pm – inc ½ hr unpaid break
Friday 11am – 1.30pm
Teachers have the opportunity to work across all rooms at Toru Fetū, being the Aoga, Akoga or Punanga culturally specific rooms.

We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:
Is skilled in using one or more of the Pacific Languages of Toru Fetū and or demonstrates an openness and dedication to learning and using Pacific Languages and culture into teaching practices.
Can work effectively with in a large team, being collaborative in approach and demonstrates effective communication skills.
Is responsive to implementing practices that enhance the social and emotional competence of Tamariki while fostering inclusive environments.
Displays a passion for teaching in diverse, mixed-age setting catering to children aged 6 months to 5 years old within a Whānau-oriented learning environment.
