Primary objective
Deliver project management for tourism development priorities including regional planning and support for emerging and growing
tourism experiences and product. Priorities and the related services and initiatives are delivered in a collaborative approach, with
a focus on stakeholder engagement to advance the NT Government’s key strategic tourism industry priorities.

Context statement
The Department of Tourism and Hospitality’s goal is to unlock opportunities through identifying, prioritising and marketing new
and existing products, experiences, and events that showcase the NT’s unique identity and cultural richness. The Tourism
Development function focusses on product development and innovation and facilitating investment to enhance tourism offerings
and build partnerships.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver project management to support tourism development initiatives including regional planning activities, grants,

procurement, contracts and workshops.
2. Effective stakeholder management to establish and maintain professional relationships that supports collaborative and partner

arrangements.
3. Coordinate and deliver activities that enables new and diverse tourism experiences, product development and innovation.
4. In collaboration with government and non-government organisations coordinate and assist tourism businesses with appropriate

information and avenues for regional planning, business and tourism development opportunities.
5. Provide critical thinking, research and advice including the management of strategic information, the timely production of

project proposals, meeting minutes, reports and briefs.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in project, organisational and effective time management, critical thinking and research with the ability to

manage multiple priorities and tasks and work under pressure to meet competing deadlines.
2. Demonstrated experience in effective professional and communication skills across a diverse range of stakeholders, including

with Aboriginal people, across multiple mediums, including the preparation of correspondence with accuracy and attention to
detail.

3. Stakeholder management experience that nurtures and manages mutually respectful and productive professional relationships
delivered with a consistent application of tact and diplomacy in a broad range of situations.

4. Experience working independently and as part of a team, use initiative, adapt to change and be self-motivated to achieving
quality outputs and outcomes for strategic priorities.

5. Proven knowledge and understanding of the NT’s regional and remote operating environments and the ability to support policy
and planning activities for the development of the tourism industry.

Desirable
1. Experience in the tourism industry or knowledge of the economic, social and cultural tourism industry opportunities and

challenges.

Further information
At times this position requires working outside normal office hours and travel to remote areas. This role requires a current
NT drivers’ licence.
