Position Overview
Pickleplex is seeking a Tournament & League Manager to help build and lead the future of competitive play across our growing network of clubs. This role is designed for someone passionate about pickleball, highly entrepreneurial, and excited by the opportunity to create something from the ground up.
The successful candidate will develop the overall strategy for our leagues and tournaments - creating the structure, systems, and standards that will define competitive programming at Pickleplex for years to come. This is not simply an event management role; it is an opportunity to help design the foundation of a scalable competition platform capable of growing nationally.
We are looking for someone hungry to build, innovate, and take ownership of a core part of the Pickleplex experience.
Key Responsibilities: League & Tournament Strategy
Develop the long-term vision for leagues, tournaments, and competitive programming across all Pickleplex locations
Design league structures, tournament formats, skill divisions, ranking systems, and seasonal programming models
Build scalable systems that allow competitive programming to be delivered consistently across multiple clubs
Create standards, policies, and operational frameworks for all competition-based programming
Identify opportunities to increase player engagement through innovative competition formats
Program Creation & Development
Build new league and tournament concepts that serve recreational, intermediate, and advanced players
Develop a competitive pathway that encourages player progression within Pickleplex
Create systems for registration, scheduling, scoring, standings, and player communication
Continuously refine programming based on participation data and player feedback
Implementation & Support
Work with club teams to successfully roll out league and tournament programming.
Be on the ground hosting large tournaments and leagues
Create training tools and resources that support execution at the club level
Provide leadership and support to ensure programs reflect the Pickleplex standard
Help troubleshoot and improve programming as the business expands
Growth & Innovation
Analyze participation and retention trends to improve competitive programming
Partner with leadership to align league strategy with broader business goals
Help position Pickleplex as a leader in organized pickleball competition in Canada
Contribute ideas that strengthen community, player loyalty, and long-term growth
Qualifications
Experience building or managing sports leagues, tournaments, or competitive programming
Strong understanding of pickleball and player development
Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build rather than simply maintain
Highly organized with strong project management skills
Ability to think strategically while also executing details
Strong communication and leadership abilities
Passion for creating exceptional player experiences
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
Experience:
Running Tournaments: 1 year (required)
Running Leagues: 1 year (preferred)
Playing Pickleball: 1 year (required)
Using PickleballTournaments Software: 1 year (preferred)
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON M5E 1J8
