Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Mechanical Trade Assistant, you'll support UC's mechanical maintenance team in delivering reactive, preventative, and planned maintenance services across our facilities. You'll assist qualified tradespeople with tasks involving HVAC systems, hot water systems, pumps, compressors, and general building services. This hands-on role contributes to the safe and efficient operation of UC's campuses and provides a great opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive team environment.
Mōu | Who You Are
You are a reliable and motivated individual with:
Demonstrated interest or experience in mechanical services or a related trade environment.
Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
A good understanding of New Zealand health and safety procedures.
Experience working at heights and in confined or restricted spaces.
Physically fit to undertake the full range of activities as described within the position description.
A full NZ driver license
A collaborative work ethic and the ability to adapt to change.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Initiative, organisation, and a willingness to learn.
An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
Relevant trade certificates or licenses will be highly desirable.
Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With
You'll work closely with UC's Facilities Maintenance team, including mechanical, electrical, building, and compliance trades. You'll report to the Mechanical Supervisor and collaborate with contractors, service providers, and building occupants to support UC's operational needs.
