We’re on the lookout for a Trade Assistant to join our supportive and close‑knit Maintenance & Engineering team based at Wetherill Park.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Trade Assistant or someone with hands‑on building and facilities maintenance, or construction exposure who is keen to build their career in an industrial FMCG environment. You’ll work alongside licensed tradespeople and contractors, contributing to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our site facilities and plant.

Reporting to the Group Facilities Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining building, site and infrastructure standards while developing valuable practical skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

What you’ll be doing

In this hands on role, you will:

Support electricians, fitters and contractors with day to day maintenance and site activities
Assist with preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance in line with CMMS schedules
Conduct routine site and safety inspections, escalating defects and hazards as required
Complete general repairs, minor component replacements and upkeep of facilities
Assist with site projects, shutdowns and equipment installations
Follow WHS, GMP and HACCP requirements, including lock‑out/tag‑out and permit‑to‑work processes under supervision
Maintain high housekeeping standards across plant and maintenance areas
Manage tools, materials, spare parts and waste in line with site procedures
Actively participate in 5S, continuous improvement and root cause analysis activities

About you

You’re a practical, reliable team player who enjoys being hands‑on and working safely. You take pride in your work, communicate well with others and are keen to learn from experienced tradespeople.

To be successful, you’ll bring:

Previous experience in a Trade Assistant, facilities maintenance, construction or industrial maintenance role
Basic mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools
Strong focus on safety, organisation and attention to detail
Ability to work in a food manufacturing environment and comply with hygiene requirements
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to work
