Roles and Responsibilities:

You will be part of our trained team of Field Technicians responsible for installing and maintaining traffic and transport survey equipment across various locations throughout Victoria.

The primary duties involve the installation and removal of pneumatic road tubes on the road surface to facilitate accurate traffic data collection. This includes securing rubber road tubes using road screws and an impact driver. At times, you will also be required to install and remove video cameras mounted on roadside poles to support camera‑based surveys.

As part of your responsibilities, you will conduct periodic field checks to ensure that all equipment is operating correctly, data is being recorded in accordance with the project scope, and installations remain in their original configuration throughout the survey period. If any outages, faults, or irregularities are identified, you will be required to reset or repair the equipment, re‑lay road tubes, or take other corrective actions as needed.

In addition to fieldwork, the role includes assisting with the management, maintenance, and preparation of our inventory of more than 600 pieces of field equipment stored in our large warehouse. This may involve equipment testing, cleaning, organising, and ensuring all devices are ready for deployment.

Offerings and considerations:

We are seeking individuals who enjoy working outdoors, have an excellent driving record, and are comfortable spending extended periods of time in a vehicle alongside a colleague travelling between survey locations.

This role will commence on a casual basis, with the opportunity to transition to part‑time or full‑time employment after six months of successful performance. To be considered for ongoing PT/FT opportunities, team members must consistently demonstrate safe work practices and a clear understanding of all trained work procedures.

Working hours will generally being between 6:30am-7am and finish between 5:00-6:00pm . However, these times may vary from day to day and week to week, depending on project requirements and operational needs. Typical workloads ranging between 30–50 hours per week, and you may be rostered up to 5-6 days a week, depending on your availability.

Rosters are usually prepared 2-3 days in advance, and in some cases up to a week ahead, depending on project awards and scheduling demands. To be considered for this role, we require full availability, including weekends, to ensure we can meet project timelines and staffing requirements.

While most work is undertaken on weekdays, there will be occasions where weekend work is required to meet project timelines.

Survey work is conducted across both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. At times, you may be required to work away from home for short periods (typically 2–3 days). When this occurs, accommodation and meal allowances will be provided.

Our head office and equipment depot are located in Croydon South (3136), and most shifts will begin and end at this location.

We are looking for individuals with a high level of attention to detail and who take pride in doing a task well. You will have the ability to self-manage and work within a team environment.

Data quality control is critical to our business, and we maintain high standards across all areas of data collection, processing and analysis.
