Train Driver - Training Program (2026 Talent Pool)
Sydney Trains is seeking a Train Driver to join our team and contribute to delivering safe and reliable journeys for millions of passengers across NSW.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn all the skills required to become a qualified Train Driver while earning a full-time salary.
You will travel all over Sydney, helping our passengers connect to work, school, and their loved ones safely and on time.
This is a dynamic and rewarding long-term career that carries much responsibility.
We offer a one-year, full-time Trainee Train Driver program that will help you develop the skills and capabilities needed to become a qualified Train Driver.
You will learn how to safely operate a train and manage various work scenarios through a combination of on-the-job and classroom/train simulation training.
You will also receive ongoing mentoring and support from your dedicated Driver Trainer and experienced team members.
Your training will take place at our dedicated training facility, and you can expect to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
To successfully complete the program, you must participate in all training activities and undertake extra home study to prepare for ongoing assessments.
About You
You are interested in a long-term career as a Train Driver.
You are prepared to commit to a demanding training schedule and further home study.
You understand that as a qualified Train Driver, you will be rostered for varying shift start and finish times within a 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week timetable.
