About The Opportunity

Fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Trainee Fisheries and Marine Officer. We have multiple permanent positions available across Western Australia for our 2026/2027 intake.

As a Trainee FMO, you’ll begin your journey with four months of paid, structured training at our South Fremantle Marine Operations Centre, commencing in early September 2026. The training includes three weeks of in-field experience across the Perth Metropolitan Area, providing you the opportunity to put your newly learned skills into practice whilst being supported by a team of experienced Officers.

After successfully completing training, you’ll be deployed to one of our district offices.

Training is paid, however travel, accommodation, and relocation costs to attend the training are at your own expense. Relocation support may be available when moving to your district placement after training.

After completing the four-month training program and spending 12 months working in your assigned district putting your training into practice, you'll be eligible to apply for promotion to a FMO Level 3, provided you meet the required training and development milestones.
