TRAINEE INJECTION MOULDING TECHNICIAN (FULL-TIME)

As a company, Plastics 2000 has invested heavily over the last number of years on a new factory, machinery, and staff to keep up with increased workload from new customers. With several new projects coming onboard early next year, we are looking for a trainee injection mould technician who is ready to kickstart their career in the world of injection moulding. The role of the Trainee Injection Moulding Technician will be to shadow our senior Injection Moulding Technician to set, maintain & optimise several injection machines & oversee tool and material changes.
Job Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Senior Tool Setter on tool changing and setting.
• Carry out mould tool changes in accordance with the daily production plan.
• Assist with production of first offs with necessary documentation and to drawing specification/ QC expectations.
• Mould tool sampling and producing setting sheets as necessary.
• Recommend modifications/ improvements to increase productivity, improve quality and/or reduce waste.
• Ensure moulding processes are running correctly and to the correct cycle time.
• Trouble shoot processes and correct as necessary with documentation as required.
• Attend production meetings when required.
• Ensure correct materials are available for production runs.
• Ensure that machines are left tidy and free of tools and equipment.
• Ensure the mould shop is tidy, well organised and safe for all employees.
• Return mould tools to the correct location and ensure they are properly stored.
• Work with others (including Production Team Leaders, Operators and Maintenance Engineers) to set up, operate, maintain and debug any assigned equipment.
• Clean any assigned machinery as required.
• Ensure spare parts and consumables for moulding and machines are available and stock quantities are maintained.
• To promote, maintain and action 5S and lean management activities within relevant areas.
Essential Skills/Experience:
• Hardworking, hands on and committed, with the right attitude.
• Minimum grade C in English and Maths GCSE
Preferred Skills/Experience:
• A degree or qualification with an Engineering background
• Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge in processes to achieve high quality standards, preferably in an injection moulding environment.
• Knowledge or experience in machine maintenance and fault finding.
• Familiar with Lean manufacturing and 5S Process.
• Forward thinking individual with a focus on continuous improvement.
NOTE: Although experience or knowledge in injection moulding or manufacturing processes is highly beneficial, the successful applicant will be trained and developed sufficiently in this long-term position.
Job Type:
• Permanent, Full-time
Salary:
• £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year based on experience.
