Job Description
This is a physical, outdoors role where no two days are the same. You’ll learn how to safely operate equipment, work at heights, and contribute to building and maintaining essential network infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Assisting with the construction and maintenance of electrical lines to meet customer and network requirements
Learning to develop work plans for overhead lines and equipment
Operating ground and structure‑mounted electrical equipment up to 33kV (with training)
Installing, replacing, and maintaining poles, structures, and conductors
Overhauling non‑load-bearing hardware on networks up to 110kV
Completing block courses and unit standards on time
Supporting the team with accurate paperwork, including inspections and incident reports
Working safely while upholding Northpower’s quality, environmental, and regulatory standards
Looking after issued tools, PPE, and equipment
Contributing to team productivity, positive customer experiences, and continuous improvement
About You:
NZ Full Driver Licence
Experience working at heights
A great attitude and willingness to learn
Strong commitment to health and safety
Good written and verbal communication
Ability to work in a team environment
Physical fitness to perform the role
