Job Purpose
As a Trainee Motor Claims Handler you will receive training and support to begin your insurance career. You will learn about the key principles of insurance and develop the skills required to handle claims efficiently and effectively.
Our in-house development programme will ensure you have the opportunity to progress your career and your salary as well as gain exposure to all areas of claims handling such as first party claims, third party claims, liability, indemnity, fraud, bodily injury and credit hire.
Please Note: This role will start on October 21st. Successful applicants will undergo a six-week initial training & development program.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
• Make correct policy decisions in regard to indemnity and coverage referring where necessary
• To negotiate settlement of customer claims
• To ensure recovery of claims outlay, where necessary
• Ensure reserves are accurately based on current information for all elements of the claim within authority levels
• Appoint appropriate partner companies and monitor/manage their performance
• Deal with telephone calls including completing any actions necessary as a result, ensuring the customer received outstanding service.
• To maintain data accuracy and files to agreed standards
• To drive your own development by actively seeking development opportunities
• To take responsibility for your own actions ensuring you keep up to date with all communications, processes and procedures
• To adhere to company policies and procedures
• To actively and positively promote and represent the Carpenters group throughout the firm, and to external bodies
Experience & Knowledge
• Confident telephone manner
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills
• An ability to work using own initiative within boundaries
• An ability to work effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities
• Good IT/Keyboard skills
• Good numeric skills
Desirables
• Previous experience in a telephony or customer service role preferred but not essential
