About the Role
Looking for your next big opportunity? We’ve got an exciting Trainee Transmission Line Mechanic role just for you! In this position, you’ll get to work towards attaining the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Transmission) levels 2 and 4 and obtain EWRB registration as a transmission line mechanic making a real impact.
Identify electrical systems and components to ensure safe and accurate preparation for work.
Climb and work confidently on electricity network structures in a variety of environments.
Operate line‑mechanical machinery, plant and specialised equipment safely within an electricity network setting.
Assess and report on the condition of electricity lines to support maintenance and asset‑management decisions.
and remove earths on overhead line conductors in accordance with safety and industry standards.
Develop detailed work plans for the construction, maintenance and servicing of overhead electricity lines and associated equipment.
Joint overhead conductors to required specifications and quality standards.
Replace load‑bearing pole hardware on electrical networks up to 110 kV.
Overhaul tower structure hardware on networks up to 220 kV.
Repair and refurbish tower foundations to maintain structural integrity.
Erect transmission towers and ensure all components meet engineering and safety requirements.
Install and replace electricity network pole structures.
Install overhead conductors across a range of network configurations.
Restore electricity network lines using emergency structures during unplanned outages or events.
Dismantle electricity network lines and structures safely and efficiently.
Remove overhead pole line installations up to 110 kV.
Perform rigging activities on electrical network structures in line with approved procedures.
Install pad‑mounted and structure‑mounted electrical equipment as required.
Understand and comply with all Omexom health and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required
A minimum of NZQA Level 1
An awareness of industry safety requirements
Previous experience and aptitude for outdoor work
