Responsibilities
This position works closely with the District Learning Manager to support Workforce Development programs within the Hampton Roads District, as well as a statewide learning liaison role
This role supports VDOT’s efforts of Keeping Virginia Moving and cultivating a continuous learning culture for our district
Scheduling and coordinating a variety of safety and equipment training programs through collaboration with district management and training vendors
Assisting instructors with training class preparation and logistics to include making room reservations, confirming equipment availability, and ordering training materials
Monitoring various compliance training metrics and working with district management to schedule courses as necessary for their teams to maintain 100% compliance
Providing Learning Management System (LMS) support in VDOT University by scheduling classes, registering class participants, entering course completions, maintaining employee transcripts, running training reports, and assisting users with navigating the system
Assisting with preparation and maintenance of the District Learning Budget, responding to requests for training funds, and distributing “Approved Charge Codes” (budget codes), as needed
Providing guidance on procedures for various programs such as Learning Partnership Program (LPP) tuition assistance and Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program for CDLs
Supporting the District Learning Manager as needed with implementation of Leadership Development Programs, New Employee Orientations, and other training initiatives

Job Duties

The Hampton Roads District is seeking to fill an hourly Training Coordinator position within the Human Resources team. This position works closely with the District Learning Manager to support Workforce Development programs within the Hampton Roads District, as well as a statewide learning liaison role. This role supports VDOT’s efforts of Keeping Virginia Moving and cultivating a continuous learning culture for our district.

This is an hourly/wage position and is limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period- average 29 hrs per week. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Specific duties include:
• Scheduling and coordinating a variety of safety and equipment training programs through collaboration with district management and training vendors.
• Assisting instructors with training class preparation and logistics to include making room reservations, confirming equipment availability, and ordering training materials.
• Monitoring various compliance training metrics and working with district management to schedule courses as necessary for their teams to maintain 100% compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
• Proficiency in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office, Outlook and SharePoint.
• Experience coordinating and preparing reports; maintaining databases.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to perform under pressure, be flexible and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues.
• Excellent time management, organization skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work as a team player and independently.

Additional Considerations
• Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS), a plus.
• Knowledge of adult learning and training experience, a plus.
