.ABOUT THE BRANCH AND SECTION

The Procurement Capability Branch focuses on lifting procurement and contract management capability in the Australian Public Service (APS) and actively supports local industry to take advantage of government purchasing opportunities.

The Branch:


Builds the procurement and contracting capabilities of the APS through the Procurement and Contract Management Profession and the Commonwealth Procurement and Contract Management Training Suite.
Develops and delivers tools and resources to help businesses better engage with Australian Government procurement.
Strengthens engagement with states and territories to deliver economic, social, and environmental benefits to regions, industry sectors and communities. Initiates and drives projects and initiatives which encourage more diversity in supply chains.
Leads the Procurement Division's strategic engagement with APS entities.

The Procurement Training section is responsible for developing and delivering the APS-wide Commonwealth Procurement and Contract Management Training Suite to ensure APS officials have the skills and knowledge needed to engage and support value for money outcomes in the Procurement Lifecycle, in line with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, associated tools, and resources.

Work of the section includes:


Designing and developing foundation and practitioner level courses in both live learning and eLearning formats. These courses are delivered in collaboration with the APS Academy on APSLearn.
Scheduling and facilitating live courses, both online and onsite: public and single-entity sessions.
Delivering Procurement Capability Week.
Delivering the Pathways to Procurement program.
Developing and delivering microlearning content to support the profession.
Evaluating the Training Suite and updating as needed to remain current.
Administration of Finance training content in APSLearn.
Developing and maintaining the Learning and Development Strategy and associated plans to guide the section’s work. This includes implementing the Training Suite Communication Plan across the APS.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As an APS6 Training Facilitator you will:
Deliver procurement and contract management training products that build capability across the APS.
Facilitate engaging, inclusive, and accessible procurement and contract management training sessions (delivered in-person and virtually as required).
Use adult learning principles and best practices to deliver consistent, high-quality training that follows approved materials.
Build and maintain your knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, relevant policies, and related frameworks.
Support course development and administration, including course piloting/testing, quality assurance and reviews; scheduling; participant registrations and enquiries; attendance reporting and analysis; and maintaining learning resources.
Build strong working relationships with subject matter experts, operational teams, and other stakeholders.
Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, respectful and high-performing team culture.
