Details: The Training Officer plays an exciting and influential role in building the capability of staff who support Road Transport legislation and the rego.act system. This position offers the opportunity to design and deliver high‑quality learning experiences that make a real impact across the ACT. You will create engaging, modern, and accessible training solutions, including interactive web‑based modules as well as dynamic classroom and virtual workshops, ensuring every learning experience is clear, relevant, and enjoyable.
In this role, you will manage the development and maintenance of training materials, schedules, assessments, and communication products. You will work closely with stakeholders to identify capability needs and develop training that supports both new government initiatives and existing policies. You will also use the rego.act Training SharePoint site, ensuring it remains a reliable and user‑friendly resource for staff.
A key aspect of the role is the ability to translate complex legislation into simple, practical guidance that helps learners feel confident and supported. You will contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing and updating operational procedures, training content, and guidance materials to strengthen performance, compliance, and service delivery. The position provides opportunities to support senior staff through briefing preparation and issue resolution as needed.
To succeed, you will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, confidence presenting in both classroom and virtual environments, and the ability to manage competing priorities with limited supervision. You will consistently model professionalism and integrity, uphold the ACTPS Code of Conduct, and promote the values of respect, integrity, collaboration, and innovation, along with the Respect, Equity and Diversity framework. Meeting recordkeeping obligations under the Territory Records Act 2002 is also essential.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work independently under limited direction in a regulatory environment is highly desired.
Experience and knowledge of adult learning principles is high desired.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position is under activity-based working (ABW) arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options include a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT.
