About the role:
Our clients count on us to make the legal process seamless and efficient from scheduling court reporters and legal videographers to ensuring transcripts are delivered on time and flawlessly accurate. The Transcription Services Specialist, Court Services, plays a pivotal role in managing all aspects of preparing appeal transcripts and briefs for the provincial Court of Appeal.

What you'll get to do

Preparing appeal transcripts, books, factums and briefs for the British Columbia Court of Appeal
Preparing rulings and reasons for judgment for the British Columbia Supreme Court
Preparing audio files for transfer using software such as Hightail
Accepting and coordinating transcription orders as needed
Providing clients with estimates for transcription orders as needed
Receiving, downloading, and reviewing audio, paperwork, and other files
Assigning work to transcriptionists and ensuring that transcriptionists have access to audio, paperwork, files, and templates to complete transcription work as needed
Work collaboratively with Veritext colleagues, exhibiting Veritext Values
Ensure that all client (internal and external) communications are handled in a professional, timely and courteous manner
Communicate necessary information timely, accurately and effectively, and report incidents to management
Welcome new projects and ideas; continuously work to enhance job knowledge while bringing value to role
Take ownership of your work; follow-thru until final resolution
The kind of teammate we’re looking for:

3+ years of related experience
Proficient with style/format provisions of the BC Court Transcription Manual for provincial, supreme and appeal court proceedings
Extensive experience preparing appeal transcripts, books, factums and briefs for the BC Court of Appeal
Experience with Hightail and/or ipSwitch for audio file transfer
Strong vocabulary and research skills specific to case law citations
Experience preparing rulings and reasons for judgment for the BC Supreme Court
Enhanced Provincial (British Columbia) Security Screening will be required. JUSTIN/ CEIS
Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with competing and often complex priorities
Experience assigning large volumes of work to independent contractors
Experience working collaboratively with Court Clerks, Justices of the Peace, Sheriffs, Judges, Registry Clerks, Lawyers and members of the public to ensure accessibility to the justice system
Experience with delivering exceptional customer service.
Expert level Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro skills
Previous experience working with BC Courts A2A (electronic court system for official transcripts)
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills
Dedicated professional with the ability to respond to requests promptly and accurately
Must be detail oriented, organized and be able to multi-task
Proactive and motivated with strong problem solving and follow up skills
Must be able to work both independently and with a team
