What are we looking for?

The Transformation Finance Analyst provides portfolio-wide financial stewardship across Slater and Gordon’s strategic transformation agenda.

You will focus on the cost side of delivery, supporting end-to-end project budgeting, forecasting, monitoring of spend, variance analysis and resource cost planning across multiple projects of varying size. You will consolidate and translate financial data into clear, actionable insights that support timely, high-quality decision making by the PMO, Finance and senior stakeholders.

A key part of the role is ownership of core month-end project financial processes, including accruals, invoice reconciliation, cross-charging and capex administration, ensuring alignment with the general ledger and compliance with group policies.

Advanced Excel capability is essential. You will work primarily with data sourced from Power BI and, over time, support increased automation using tools.

Lead month-end close for the transformation project portfolio, including accruals, invoice reconciliation, cross-charging and capex administration.
Ensure project financials are complete, accurate and aligned to Finance month-end timetables and reporting standards.
Prepare clear, executive-ready variance commentary and key messages for the PMO, Finance and senior stakeholders.
Own budgeting, forecasting and cost-to-complete across individual projects and the portfolio in aggregate.
Partner with Project Managers to interpret results, challenge assumptions and agree corrective actions and reforecasts.
Set up projects, project codes and cost centres in line with PMO and Finance frameworks, ensuring accurate and timely allocation of internal labour, contractors and vendor costs, with appropriate capex/opex treatment.
Produce high quality monthly project and portfolio financial reporting packs and dashboards using Excel and Power BI, highlighting budget vs actuals, forecast, risks and mitigation actions.
Continuously monitor expenditure against approved budgets and funding envelopes, providing early, evidence-based warnings on forecast overruns, slippage or underspend.
Support new and revised business cases and funding submissions from a cost perspective, ensuring robust cost estimates, funding profiles and financial assumptions.
Identify opportunities to streamline and standardise project financial processes, templates and reporting, and collaborate with Planning & Performance to progressively move from manual Excel-based processes towards more automated, system-driven solutions.
Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders such as Project Managers, Finance and the PMO, presenting complex financial information in a clear, outcome-focused way for both financial and non-financial audiences.
What will you bring?

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
CA/CPA/CFA qualification or working towards this (desirable).
Demonstrated experience in project accounting or management accounting.
Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost control.
Practical experience using accounting / ERP systems and working with data from reporting tools.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
Strong analytical skills with high numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent stakeholder relationship and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritise competing demands.
