Job Description
Downer is looking for a Transport Coordinator based out of our state-of-the-art asphalt manufacturing plant in Rosehill to provide operational oversight of our haulage fleet and logistics functions. You’ll be responsible for the safe scheduling, allocation and dispatch of trucks supporting internal production.
You’ll collaborate with Production, Contracting, and Operations teams to ensure transport activities run smoothly, legally, and efficiently, meeting customer expectations, supporting business priorities, and strengthening Downer’s reputation for service excellence.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Coordinate daily scheduling, allocation and dispatch of fleet and subcontractor trucks to meet production, contracting and client delivery requirements.
Ensure all transport activities comply with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, including fatigue, load restraint, speed, and mass management, while maintaining accurate and compliant documentation.
Lead safety-focused transport operations by identifying hazards, escalating incidents, and promoting Zero Harm behaviours across drivers and subcontractors.
Liaise proactively with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain service excellence.
Monitor and optimise fleet utilisation, ensuring preventative maintenance schedules are met and resources are deployed efficiently.
Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring competency, compliance, safe work practices, and alignment with Downer standards.
Support continuous improvement by providing accurate forecasting, reporting, and operational insights to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Previous experience in transport coordination, logistics scheduling, dispatching or operations.
Knowledge of transport compliance requirements and CoR preferred.
High attention to detail and strong organisational/time management skills.
Ability to adapt rapidly in a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment.
Competence with transport or logistics scheduling systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
