Job Description
This leadership role is responsible for fleet oversight, driver supervision, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of high-quality transport services across multiple courier runs and a refrigerated truck contract.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organise, direct, and evaluate daily transport operations across all company vehicles
Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and service standards
Manage fleet scheduling, maintenance planning, utilisation, and replacement strategies across multiple vehicle types
Ensure full compliance with New Zealand transport legislation, licensing requirements, and health and safety standards
Oversee budgeting, cost control, pricing support, and financial performance of transport operations
Monitor service delivery, operational performance, and efficiency, including occasional nationwide long-haul requirements
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate drivers and operational staff
Manage 24/7 rostering, workforce allocation, and performance outcomes
Resolve operational issues, customer concerns, and service disruptions
Prepare operational, financial, and compliance reports for management review
Minimum Requirements
At least 2 years’ relevant work experience, OR
A Level 4 or higher qualification in transport, logistics, business, or a related field
Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving capability
Sound understanding of transport compliance, health and safety, and fleet management
Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence (or overseas equivalent transferable to NZ)
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekend or nationwide travel
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and ******* testing and Ministry of Justice (MOJ) criminal background checks required for secure depot access
Preferred (but not essential)
Experience managing courier, refrigerated, or multi-contract transport operations
Knowledge of NZTA and commercial transport regulations
