Reporting to the Program Manager, Transportation, the Transportation Electrical Co-op Student is primarily responsible for designing and drafting streetlighting and traffic signals infrastructure. This role is open to students available for an 8, 12, or 16-month term starting in May 2026

Responsibilities:
Assist in the design of Streetlighting and Traffic Signal infrastructure for land development, municipal, and provincial projects in a variety of jurisdictions.
Learn to interpret and apply relevant Streetlighting and Traffic Signal standards across multiple municipalities.
Drafting streetlighting and traffic signal drawings using AutoCAD.
Participate in weekly team meetings to ensure project deadlines are met.
Review 3rd party drawings such as civil, architectural, landscape, and on-site electrical to coordinate and eliminate design conflicts.
Conduct Field Reviews of new installations.
Review as-built markups to ensure substantial compliance with the original design and completing Record Drawings.
Create various tools to standardize and streamline processes for the team within Excel.
Other duties as required by senior engineering staff, including contract administration.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of at least one year of an engineering program at an accredited university or college (electrical or civil preferred)
Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office 365 Suite
Familiarization with AGI32 and IES/TAC lighting standards would be an asset.

Great interpersonal skills with the ability to develop business relationships conducted in a professional manner.
Strong collaborative skills and willingness to liaise with other roles (project managers, designers, drafters, materials and construction vendors, survey, and marketing) to ensure projects are accurate, compliant, on-time and on budget.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability, self-motivation, and drive for improvement.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently.
Salary Range: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour
