This role is responsible for overseeing all trucking operations across Canada, including long-haul, local delivery, and container drayage. The ideal candidate will have solid experience managing both in-house fleets and third-party carriers, deep knowledge of the Canadian transportation market, and the ability to lead a team in handling dispatching, quoting, cost analysis, and supplier performance evaluation.
The position requires building a standardized and data-driven management framework that enables operational visibility, cost efficiency, and service quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Nationwide Trucking Operations Management
Oversee end-to-end transportation operations across Canada, including drayage, linehaul, and last-mile delivery
Optimize network routing, dispatch scheduling, and cost efficiency
Collaborate with internal teams (warehousing, customer service, sales) to ensure on-time and reliable delivery performance
2. Fleet Management
Lead day-to-day management of the company-owned fleet, including truck dispatching, driver scheduling, and route planning
Establish maintenance schedules, safety compliance protocols, and driver management systems
Ensure fleet utilization, performance, and operational compliance
3. Carrier Development & Management
Source, evaluate, and manage trucking service providers across Canada, from large national carriers to regional fleets
Lead contract negotiations and set clear service-level expectations
Build a reliable and scalable carrier network aligned with business growth
4. Supplier Performance Evaluation System
Develop and implement a performance evaluation framework with clear KPIs (on-time rate, service quality, cost control, etc.)
Conduct regular monthly/quarterly assessments and reviews with suppliers
Apply a performance-based allocation model to reward top-performing carriers and improve overall efficiency
5. Quotation & Cost Control
Master Canadian trucking rate structures and pricing logic
Provide timely and accurate rate quotations for internal teams and clients
Analyze and optimize transportation cost structure and pricing strategies
6. Operational System & Data Management
Deploy or manage dispatch and vendor systems for digital and transparent operations
Use Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI, or similar tools to monitor performance, cost, and supplier data
Promote operational standardization and continuous process improvement
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field
Fluent in English and Mandarin, with strong cross-cultural communication skills
Minimum 3 years of trucking operations experience in Canada, with experience in managing both in-house fleet and external carriers
In-depth knowledge of Canadian transportation regulations, equipment types, lanes, and pricing models
Strong supplier negotiation, contract management, and performance evaluation skills
Proficiency in Excel and online tools for data analysis, quoting, and cost control
Proven ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional collaboration and process optimization
