Job Description
The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing & optimizing the transportation processes to ensure efficient on-time deliveries and to resolve potential delays as they arise. This role involves shipment follow-up and tracking on a weekly basis, operational issue resolution, first level escalation management, and collaboration with key stakeholders such as carriers, distribution centers, and brand partners.
Duties
Operational escalations: Act as the first level of escalation for transport-related operational issues, ensuring swift resolution.
Service provider & DC meetings: Conduct regular operational meetings with carriers and distribution centers to align on performance and expectations.
Route management: Maintain and optimize transportation routes using SAP tables to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Allocation management: Manage the allocation of shipments to carriers and routes to balance cost, service level, and operational constraints.
Claims management & LSO: Handle transport-related claims, liaise with service providers, and ensure compliance with legal and service obligations.
Exception management: manage exceptions in shipping and account set-up with parcel and freight carriers, orchestrate the in- and external communication
Manage Inbound transport operations and quality of service:
Shipment Follow-Up: Monitor and track shipments on a weekly basis to ensure on-time delivery and resolve potential delays.
Ensure accurate Shipment tracking/reporting
Manage the inbound shipments and coordinate with local carriers for accurate arrival times
Collaborate with DC’s and ensure “as planned” shipment execution
Monitor and improve service agreements as well as lead-times, and audit them based on SLA’s
Manage the escalation process for service failures to ensure corrective actions are in place
Direct shipments: Oversee and coordinate direct shipments from factories to customers, ensuring smooth execution and minimal disruptions.
Manage Outbound transport operations and quality of service:
Oversee and actively manage Outbound shipments on a frequent basis, in alignment with the Account Manager
Collaborate with DC’s and Omni-channel sales teams (weekly basis)
Monitor and improve service agreements and lead-times
Contribute to Outbound transportation projects in close relationship with all internal/external stakeholders (DC, customs, IT, …)
Support carriers’ performance evaluation based on our service framework in terms of reliability, quality, cost
Introduce service/quality criteria defined by the management and audit them based on SLA’s
Manage all escalations coming from carriers, internal customers or departments resolving issues and provide solutions
Retail Deliveries: Manage and oversee the delivery process for retail partners, ensuring efficient last-mile execution.
Business trips needed for this role 20%.
Required Skills & Abilities
Technical skills:
Knowledge of supply chain management and distribution chain
Knowledge of transportation modes (Sea, Air, Road freight, Parcel)
Fluent in English – verbal and in writing
Computer skills: Microsoft Office, TMS (Transportation Management System), SAP ERP/TM is a plus
Knowledge of Incoterms and Customs processes
Knowledge in process management

Education & Experience:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in logistics/transportation
Bachelor's degree in transportation/logistics or equivalent experience

Pay: $94,000.00-$98,000.00 per year
