This requisition will be used to establish a list of candidates to fill multiple positions both permeant and limited duration. The limited duration is anticipated to last 12 months and may be extended or reduced.

The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) seeks to employ career-oriented candidates and offers employment opportunities in a wide variety of challenging occupations. This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

The Job

This position is based out of the Oregon Department of Corrections Central Distribution Center in Salem Oregon. It includes short haul day trips, long haul day trips, and occasional overnight trips which are bid for by seniority. Work schedules, depending on the bid, are four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days.

Most routes are within the state of Oregon with occasional out of state travel.

You will primarily transport food and institution supplies on pallets in refer controlled trailers ranging from 28 to 53 feet. You may occasionally haul flatbed trailers or operate transport buses with Adults in Custody. You will help load and unload as a part of your process.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

The Truck Driver 2 operates vehicles with a 26,001 gross vehicle weight rating or higher.

Oregon driver license appropriate for the class of vehicle used by the employing agency.

Requested Qualifications
• CDL Class A
• Passenger Endorsement
• Two years or more experience
• Experience hauling 53’ trailers
• Forklift experience
• Riding pallet jack experience
• Walking electric pallet jack experience

Working Conditions

Working in a minimum and medium custody adult correctional facility including daily contact with adults in custody (AIC).

Requirements for Employment

You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range.
