Our mechanics repair and maintain commercial motor vehicles and trailing equipment by performing the following duties.
Multiple shifts available! Mechanics on swing work a minimum of 8 hours and receive an additional $3/hr shift differential. Graveyard shift will receive $4/hr shift differential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position.
Services and inspects commercial motor vehicles and trailers.
Interprets deficiencies as identified on driver’s post trip inspection forms.
Performs repairs to air ride and spring type suspension systems.
Diagnoses and repairs electrical/lighting systems.
Performs wheel end inspections and services.
Performs annual Commercial Motor Vehicle inspections per FMCSR §396.19.
Performs brake inspections per FMCSR §396.25.
Performs basic computer functions by completing job work orders using Transman Fleet Equipment Maintenance System, recording materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes.
Operate company vehicles and forklifts in a safe, professional manner.
Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment and Fit for Work.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have two to three years of experience.
Individual must meet the requirements to obtain Brake Inspector Certification per
FMCSR §396.25 and Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspector Certification per
§396.19.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with co- workers, supervisors and managers, to understand procedures and warning signs and or markings in the English language, to respond to inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):
Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in AWE Industrial Health and
Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, chemical splash suits, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respiratory protection and arctic gear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is high. Hearing protection is required.
