At Lomita Tutoring Corp., our tutors play a vital role in supporting and guiding students to reach their full academic potential. As a tutor, you are more than just an educator, you are a mentor, motivator, and problem-solver. Here’s what you can expect to do in this role:
Provide Personalized Learning Support
Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to strengthen their understanding of Math, Science: Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Calculus
Adapt teaching methods to match each student’s learning style and pace.
Identify academic gaps and develop targeted strategies to help students succeed.
Assist with Homework, Assignments & Exam Prep
Help students complete assignments, projects, and prepare for tests with confidence.
Explain difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand way to improve comprehension.
Teach students effective study habits and problem-solving skills.
Build Confidence & Encourage Academic Growth
Provide positive reinforcement and motivation to help students gain self-confidence.
Teach students how to think critically, analyze problems, and develop strong learning habits.
Encourage a growth mindset, showing students that they can improve with effort and practice.
Create a Supportive & Engaging Learning Environment
Foster a safe, encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions.
Use interactive teaching techniques, visual aids, and real-world examples to make learning engaging and fun.
Track student progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians when needed.
Maintain Professionalism & Passion for Education
Be reliable, patient, and enthusiastic about helping students succeed.
Stay up-to-date with curriculum standards and best teaching practices.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and fellow tutors.
Qualifications
Currently a University Student or has a University Degree
Strong tutoring and teaching abilities
Excellent communication skills
Experience working with children/young adults in educational settings
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
Patience and understanding in guiding students through challenges
Meeting our students
Must be open to drive to either St.Albert or Spruce Grove or Sherwood Park for in person sessions
We are not offering remote only tutors at this time.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 10 per week
