UK Video Editor|Producer Fellow |January 2026

💰 £3,520 - £5,632 (Est.) 📍 London

Job Description

Job description
Business Insider is hiring a UK-based Fellow to join our video team as a video producer/editor on its newest show, "View From Above".

The role is a 6-month contract, starting January 2026. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week. The work can be done remotely, but some hands-on tasks are expected from our offices in central London.
• Fellowship applications close October 18, 2026

The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week and can be hybrid. Business Insider policies, including the hybrid policy, are continually reviewed and may be subject to change

The team:

'View From Above' tells feature-length stories by picking apart satellite imagery. We show how landscapes and communities have changed over time, and reveal surprising features by zooming into high-resolution aerial photos. We deploy OSINT techniques to geolocate user-generated content, and piece together complex visual events. This is a small team and the role will involve both video editing and production duties, working alongside our UK-based Senior Managing Producer and Deputy Executive Producer.

The role will also include assisting our London-based production teams in our video studio.

The ideal candidate will be an avid consumer of our documentary content and be as comfortable with video editing as picking up the phone for a research call. We are also looking for a self-motivated creative for whom a turn of phrase comes just as easily as a slick audio and video edit.

Example episode of a recent Business Insider episode produced by the View From Above team: Four Gazans Show How War Has Torn Their Coastline Apart

Key Responsibilities:
• Working quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team.
• Editing short-documentary length video material using Adobe Premiere
• Video production tasks such as pitching new content, fact researching and writing scripts for episodes
• Taking on some video studio duties such as basic camera work, studio set-up

The ideal candidate will ideally:
• Have a passion for editing using Adobe Premiere. This would include complex scene building using nat sound, music, and sound effects - while building stunning visual sequences from our in-house video material.
• Have a proven track record in a range of production tasks including:
• Fact-checking
• Research
• Video and still image sourcing
• Have work experience as a producer and scriptwriter with an acute eye for detail that includes data, primary source deep dives, as well as a knack for writing in a conversational tone.
• Have the ability to stick to a publishing deadline while keeping a close eye on details.
• Have a passion for storytelling through video, photo and mapping.
• Knowledge of Adobe After Effects would be a bonus.

All our editorial fellows should have:
• A passion for digital storytelling, voracious reading habits, and familiarity with digital and social media
• Experience reporting and writing (school publications are great!)
• Ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
• Solid proofreading/copy editing skills and light HTML/Photoshop experience

Additional Information
• Fellows get 10 days annual leave during the 6-month period
• This position starts in January 2026 and requires that you work full-time for six months.

Business Insider is a flexible workplace when it comes to remote work, but an important part of the fellowship is being a part of the newsroom in person for learning opportunities. Fellows are encouraged to come into our offices in London at least two days a week. Business Insider policies, including the hybrid policy, are continually reviewed and may be subject to change.

Please apply with a resume and cover letter and specify why you're interested in working on this team. If you'd like some tips, check out our best practices guide.

Are you passionate about this opportunity, but worried that you don't have 100% of the experience we're looking for? We still want to hear from you! Apply online and let us know why you would make a great addition to the Insider community.
