Unit Clerk - NICU
Your Opportunity:
The purpose of the Unit Clerk role is to facilitate the coordination of activity and information on the nursing unit so that the needs of the patient are met in an effective manner. The activity and information may be related to patients, families, and staff, as well as financial and material management. The Unit Clerk is required to perform complex and specialized clerical duties that require extensive knowledge of the department, organization, policies, procedures and standards. Throughout the course of the posted schedule, the successful candidate will be required to work on multiple units at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre as the assignment pool is expected to cover for relief needs in a number of areas.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Recent staff scheduling experience. Medical Terminology required. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Strong organizational skills with ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent Pediatric/NICU experience preferred, medical/surgical unit experience is an asset. Strong customer service focus preferred.
