Responsibilities:
Academic Advising:
Provide personalized guidance to students and their families regarding college and career planning, including course selection, extracurricular activities, standardized testing, and college admissions requirements.
Monitor students" academic progress and provide intervention and support as needed to help them achieve their academic goals.
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist students in exploring their interests, strengths, and aspirations, and develop personalized academic and career plans.
College Counseling:
Guide students through every stage of the college application process, including researching colleges, preparing application materials, and writing personal statements and essays.
Provide individualized support to students in developing a balanced list of colleges that align with their academic interests, career goals, and personal preferences.
Conduct informational sessions and workshops for students and parents on topics such as standardized testing, financial aid, and college visits.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of universities and colleges worldwide, including their academic programs, admissions processes, and campus cultures.
Guidance and Support:
Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages students to explore diverse academic and career pathways and pursue their aspirations with confidence.
Offer emotional support and counseling to students facing challenges related to the college application process, academic stress, or personal issues.
Collaborate with school faculty, administrators, and parents to support and address students" social and emotional needs and promote their overall well-being.
Professional Development:
Organize workshops, seminars, and informational sessions to educate students and parents about various aspects of college planning, such as financial aid, college visits, and gap year options.
Pursue opportunities for networking and collaboration with other college counselors, both locally and nationally.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a guidance counselor or college advisor.
Strong understanding of the university admissions process, including familiarity with admission requirements, standardized tests (IVY League schools, SAT, ACT, etc.), and application timelines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in all interactions with students and families.
Proficiency in using technology tools and resources for college research, career assessment, and academic planning
