Responsibilities
As a Senior UA Developer, you will:
Create a variety of UA assets for your assigned product, which may include training courses, certification exams, documentation, tutorials, videos, embedded help in UI, sample code, eBooks, infographics, etc. - following UA development processes, templates, and standards using various tools and systems.
Perform task analysis and create UA design documents that identify tasks to be addressed through UA.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop UA vision documents with product use cases, common tasks, and user personas.
Recognize problems with tools and processes - recommend enhancements for UA and share it with the team/management.
Work closely with SMEs to design and develop solution-based content to resolve relevant real world scenarios.
Respond to queries on help forums or mailing lists, and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned products.
Participate in internal task forces related to UA and other technical matters. Participate in discussions at UA and feature team meetings.
Ensure best practices for usability of UA by involving SMEs and customers in user needs analysis.
Run the product software and understand how to use it, as well as how it is integrated with other products.
Job Requirements
Candidates must meet all or most of the following requirements:
5 to 8 years UA development or relevant experience in the IT domain.
B.S. or M.S. in Technical Communication or Software Engineering. Suggested majors include English, technical writing, communications, instructional design, software engineering, or computer science.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for global audience.
Impeccable grammar with clear, correct, concise, comprehensible, and consistent communication skills - including the ability to research, analyze, design, and write in a variety of formats, as well as to maintain and improve existing material.
Experience authoring documentation in a content management system with DITA Editor is required.
Experience with engineering tools such as wikis, source control systems, defect tracking systems, and XML tools.
Strong ability to illustrate complex concepts graphically. The writing and graphics should enhance the learning experience.
Proven experience in documenting complex technical subject matter.
Ability to follow style guidelines, a writing model, and processes for writing and publishing UA.
Strong inter-personnel communication and interviewing skills to be able to make great business relationships and work with people from various LOB’s.
Demonstrate a keen sense of organization and attention to details.
Ability to work on tight deadlines and multiple projects at a short notice.
Handle unforeseen situations, obstacles, and risk with ease.
Ability to work with people in different time zones to comply business needs and meet deadlines.
Interest in learning about technology and the drive to invest effort toward such learning.
Manifest mental agility and flexibility to analyze technical problems rapidly and accurately.
Demonstrate overall understanding of IT environment for on-premise and cloud deployments.
Experience with installing and configuring software independently.
Knowledge of Java, middleware, XML, Linux technology and experience with programming and administration tools is highly desirable.
A strong, positive work ethic as demonstrated by initiative, adaptability, independence, and the desire to do what is required to produce a quality product.
An excellent team player and able to work on complex projects with a group of other UA developers.
