JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Sound Knowledge of Vertica Architecture (column orientation, compression, projections, segmentations, partitions, high availability and security) Hands-on Vertica implementation
2. Expertise in installing/upgrade and maintaining Vertica clusters.
3. implementing backup and recovery processes
4. Experience in Performance Tuning in Vertica which includes creation of projection, partition swapping etc, performance monitoring and tuning, data management and resource management for analytics use cases
5. Provide Vertica design and development for large enterprise solutions
6. Maintain Vertica databases with regular patching, upgrades, updating stats and other maintenance activities
7. Monitor Vertica cluster health and perform necessary tuning
8. Identify poorly performance queries, create projections and other measures to improve application performance
+. Allocate workloads to resource pools and deliver optimal performance for application workloads
10. Troubleshoot and resolve Vertica system issues
11. Working knowledge of Vertica ecosystem like Hadoop/kafka etc.
12. Able to write/modify shell/python scrip for database maintenance
13. Plan best practices and standards for data access, audit tracking, segmentation of data through security standards (kerberos, LDAP, authentication and authorization)
14. Work in customer environment to optimize system performance using Vertica tuning tools and manual techniques
15. Collaborate in evolving overall development and technology strategies and establish database design and administration standards and best practices
