• _ Education and Experience Required: _- 3 to 5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study or Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.-
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience on Vertica database administration- Work with Vertica customers implementing scalability, high availability, migration and consolidation services on Vertica Analytic Database.- Design and implement database administration solutions including performance monitoring and tuning, data management and capacity planning, implementing DR/failover, resource management, security, backup and recovery, etc.- Work with customer to optimize system performance using Vertica tuning tools and manual techniques- Troubleshoot and resolve Vertica system issues- Understanding of Vertica architecture & migrate, install, configure, manage Vertica system and managing Vertica backup and recovery and restore.- Should have strong knowledge of Vertica internals, capacity planning and trouble shooting
- Should have hands-on experience on DB design, query development, backup, recovery and performance tuning- Sound have strong debugging skills to investigate query performance- Node management/cluster management/ work load management- Ability to troubleshoot unix/linux system logs and understand and determine issues at OS/DB level and fixes- Ability to understand tcp/kernel parameter and able to relate it to Vertica parameter setting and effect- Ability to tune kernel parameter- Ability to understand network configuration/socket configurations- Strong SQL, programming and shell scripting skills is a MUST- Experience with ETL, reporting and monitoring tools is a plus.- Excellent customer facing skills with outstanding verbal and written communication skills- Highly motivated to learn and explore new technologies- Self-disciplined to work independently
• _ Responsibilities: _- Responsible for verifying and implementing the detailed technical design solution to the problem as identified by the Project/Technical Manager.- Often responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions.- Is often the Principal Consultant who analyzes and develops enterprise technology solutions.- Regularly leads in the technical assessment and delivery of specific technical solutions to the customer. Provides a team structure conducive to high performance, and manages the team lifecycle stages.-
- Provides advanced technical consulting and advice to others on proposal efforts, solution design, system management, tuning and modification of solutions.- Provides input to the company strategy moving forward.- Collects and determines data from appropriate sources to assist in determining customer needs and requirements.- Responds to requests for technical information from customers.- Develops customer technology solutions using various industry products and technologies.-
- Owns and manages knowledge sharing within a community (e.g. team, practice, or project). Ensures team members support knowledge sharing and re-use requirements of project. Contributes significant knowledge to job family community.- Proactively encourages membership and contributions of others to professional community and coaches others in area of expertise. Regularly produces internally published material such as knowledge briefs, service delivery kit components and modules, etc. Presents at multi-customer technology conferences.- Creates and supports sales activities. Manages bids, or major input into the sales lifecycle. Manages activities and provides qualitative and quantitative information for successful sales. Produces complete proposals for smaller engagements within area of expertise. Actively grows the company portfolio with existing customers through new opportunities and change management.
