The Chief Risk Office function has Group-wide responsibility for the management and control of all credit, market, operational, enterprise and liquidity risks and has the responsibility of continual development of methods for risk measurement, frameworks and creating a bank wide strong risk culture. Valuation Control (VC) is part of our independent Risk function and sits within the Market and Valuations Risk Management (MVRM) group. The primary objectives of the VC team are to ensure the integrity and control over all aspects of the valuation of the bank's trading portfolios, act as an internal advisor and operate a center of excellence for valuation risk and methodology.
The Valuation Methodologies team (VM) is the quantitative, technical arm within VC. The VM team is responsible for the development of independent valuation methodologies used for periodically testing all the bank’s valuations. VM are also responsible for the periodic review and validation of all fair value adjustment (including model reserves and liquidity adjustments) and Prudent Valuation methodologies.

Your key responsibilities
• Own the development and enhancement of Independent Price Verification (IPV) methodologies for all asset-classes and to provide technical support to the IPV production teams based in Mumbai, Singapore, London, and New York.
• Support the asset aligned VM teams, as required (including supporting validation of FO developed valuation methodologies)
• Ensure adherence to, and supporting the maintenance of, key Valuation related policies
• Provide training and guidance to VC staff on the requirements of the VC Policies, as required
• Attend and contribute to key internal governance forums and external regulatory forums
• Partner with Change, FO Strats, developers, VC teams and vendors to support the development and maintenance of valuation related functionality in Strategic systems.
Your skills and experience:
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in a Quantitative Analyst, Valuation Control, Risk Methodology, or Front office (i.e., trading\structuring) role within a financial institute, investment bank, buy-side or a reputable financial services consultancy firm.
• Engineering, Math / Statistics, Sciences, Finance or other relevant degrees preferred. MS or higher education as well as post graduate finance related qualifications (CQF, CFA or FRM) will be an advantage.
• Excellent technical understanding of complex structured products and the different models used for Valuation. Understanding of complexities associated to market data and lack of liquidity, such as reliance on proxies, etc. for valuations.
• Specific exposure to IPV, reserving, pricing and modelling aspects of valuation control of trading businesses is preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel, VBA and possibly Python; hands-on experience of market data providers including Reuters, Bloomberg, ISMA and Markit.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex quantitate problems into simple terms for less quantitative audience
• Excellent people management skills, including ability to lead, train, and develop talent, as well as the ability to communicate, present and influence to senior stakeholders.
