Overview

The Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant Staten Island economy. Our mission is to promote public and private investment, support environmentally responsible commercial and industrial development, and enhance quality of life through the creation of diverse employment opportunities.

SIEDC is seeking an experienced and strategic leader with a strong background in economic development and urban planning to lead a dynamic department overseeing a wide range of initiatives. These include merchant organizing and neighborhood development, master planning, transportation advocacy, brownfield remediation, renewable energy, and community revitalization programs.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead and manage the SIEDC Real Estate Program, including marketing developable properties, engaging with prospective businesses, and partnering with developers and public agencies
Oversee multiple city, state, and federally funded studies and ensure timely execution and reporting
Supervise department staff, including the Industrial Business Manager, Senior Economic Advisor, Project Managers, and external consultants
Develop and submit grant proposals; implement funded initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders and the Board of Directors; ensure accurate and timely reporting
Prepare and submit consolidated funding applications on an annual basis
Collaborate with senior staff and the Board to develop white papers and provide policy recommendations on key economic development issues
Provide urban planning guidance for transportation and infrastructure projects
Oversee the Downtown Revitalization Program Small Business Grant Fund
Maintain strong relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and key stakeholders on local and regional initiatives
Partner with Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and merchant associations to support capital projects, maintenance, events, and marketing initiatives
Lead neighborhood development efforts, including merchant organizing and potential BID formation across multiple Staten Island communities
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to senior leadership
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving capabilities
Experience preparing reports, business correspondence, and planning documents
Strong analytical and project management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in urban planning, public administration, public policy, real estate, finance, government affairs, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
